2008 was a turning point in Charles’ cycling career.  Known for his strength as a climber, it was three time trial performances that made him a marked man.  At the Giro di Jersey, a precursor to the Fitchburg/Longsjo Stage Race, he rode a strong top-10 time trial which enabled him to keep the leaders in sights for the remainder of the race.  Two weeks later, Charles won the prologue time trial at Fitchburg in the Cat 2 race and just missed the overall win finishing in a close third.  In early September, he surprised the field to take 7th in the newly-devised time trial at the Green Mountain Stage Race.  Charles looks to continue his leadership role in 2009 and hopes to shine in tough stage races and hillclimbs throughout the summer.   DOB: 3/11/80
